Sambandið - A modern data platform for Iceland’s municipalities
Samband Íslenskra Sveitarfélaga is taking over the collection of municipal financial data. Together with Gangverk, they built a platform for collecting, validating, and sharing data that they can continue to expand for years to come.
Sambandið can see the status of municipal submissions in real-time. Delivered municipalities are marked clearly, making progress visible and follow-up easier to coordinate. Behind that overview, submissions flow through orchestrated pipelines with built-in data-quality checks. Hard rules that stop invalid data before it enters the platform, and softer checks that flag anomalies for review.
The same feedback loop extends back to municipalities through clear confirmations and human-readable error messages. Together, these pieces form a reliable platform where every figure can be validated, traced, monitored, and made available through dashboards and a documented API.
